Down to 3....

Wow!!! I can't believe how fast these past 12 weeks have gone!!! The puppies are slowly leaving the nest and we are down to 3 from 6.

I am keeping Cruiser as my next boy hopeful, so far he has been exactly what my expectations were hoping for. He is smaller than his papa with a wonderful lovey attitude. He has dark pigmentation and a lovely coat so far. He possesses wonderful movement with a level topline. He is everything that I was hoping for and hopefully will continue to mature into a gorgeous boy!
Now I am faced with the seemingly impossible task of choosing my next female show hopeful. This so far has proved to be really really tough! I have 2 very different girls. Both of which I love things about and both have things that I am not crazy about!
First we have Maya, a lovely girl with a tonne of leg and nice dark coat. Her personality is very friendly and sweet but not over the top outgoing. She is a nice size girl and would be a wonderful addition to my breeding program.

Maya, however would be related to both Cole and Cruiser and I would have to look at an outside male in the future. Plus I am not sure of her top line or her neck but that could just be a growing transition.

Then, we have Ava. Ava has the exceptional head that I was dreaming of in these puppies. She has a firecracker attitude which would serve her well in the show ring. She too has a lovely coat and fantastic top line and movement. She has that attitude that commands attention and everyone here notices her first. However she is a little short on leg (it is getting better) and I am not sure about her coat colour at maturity, she may get too light and she is a tad smaller in size than Maya.

So, what to do??? I wish that I could play Potato Head with these girls and then my decision would be made. Help!!! Any recommendations would be appreciated!! Maybe I need a second opinion?? Oh and by the way I have considered keeping both of them! That thought has definitely crossed my mind. However with the cost of showing I don't know if I can afford to campaign all 3 to their championships. It can get very expensive and my main objective with my dogs is to do it properly and have them all Canadian titled. So...again any suggestions would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Lainey leaves...

This morning we said good bye to Lainey, the smallest of Sienna and Cole's babies. Lainey is a sweet girl with only love in that little wee body of hers. Her new name chosen by her mama will be Cricket.
She is going to be the loving companion for Dianne who has all the time in the world for her!
We hope to see lots of this sweetheart as she only is going to be about 30 minutes away from us!

Happy Trails Miller!

Yesterday morning Miller set off on her new adventure to her new home! She is now the much loved and adored family puppy for Andrea and family. Miller was an independant girl here and loved to be off on her own and doing her own thing. I know she has big boots to fill but I think she will step up nicely. Big sister Harley is smiling down!!
All our love Miller and I know you will fill a big gap in this family!

R U Kidding Me???

Tuesday certainly turned out snowier than the weather man predicted! It started off light and then the flakes got bigger and bigger! Then they started accumulating on the ground! How depressing to see snow on the ground on October 21st!! Not looking forward to winter at all, especially since it seems we really didn't have much summer.

Not a pretty picture at all....

The girls went out in all their winter apparel and built a snow man! A SNOW MAN....in October!!
Doesn't it just look wrong to see leaves still on the trees and snow on the ground...just plain wrong...

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Turkey Day!!! We celebrated the day yesterday with our family and friends. We had way too much delicious food and left feeling stuffed!!! What was better was that the kids offered to make dinner! That was a treat for me! I sat back and did my facebook stuff while they prepared and cooked! The food ended up being scrumptious and the kids really did a great job! I am thankful for all that I have. I have a great family and healthy children (even if they try to push my buttons most of the time!) We have a lovely farm and a great place to raise our kids. I am thankful that I can have my yorkies and thoroughly enjoy the breeding and puppy rearing aspect. I am thankful for a loving husband who works hard for his family. Finally lots of great friends that we know are there for us. All in all its a great way of life and we really shouldn't think about what we are thankful for just one day of the year!
Here is James with his turkey. All 18 lbs of it!

Dave and James having a gravy lesson!

The table is set...lots of food!!!

Brittany preparing the cheesecake!!

Here is the finished product!

And finally....Casi with her pumpkin pie!

Our "Mini Moon"

Dave and I decided a few days ago that we would take off and have a "mini moon"! With the summer being so crazy and him working so much over time, the opportunity just flashed by. So we thought we would take advantage of our beautiful fall colours and enjoy some of the scenery that our beautiful province has to offer!
We headed east and ended up in Gananoque a beautiful little town along the St. Lawrence river. We found this absolutely stunning 1870's bed and breakfast inn. It was called the Victoria Rose Inn and it took my breath away as we pulled up.

This grand mansion had so much history and it has been lovingly restored. I could just imagine some of the people that had been here or lived here in the Victorian era. Our room was the "Tower" room, which you can see the tower. It was absolutely gorgeous.

There was so many features of this house that I loved but the grand ol staircase was the best! It had marble fireplaces, beautiful old wide hardwood flooring, crown moldings and wide trim. It was all so awsome!
We took a walk through the town and enjoyed looking at the 19th century churches and victorian houses. I absolutely love limestone houses. It is so much more attractive to me than brick or siding.

This lovely old home was also a converted B & B built in 1826...I can't even imagine how much work these massive old homes took to build back then.

Some beautiful swans in the Ganonque River with the gorgeous red, yellow and browns of our trees.

We certainly are so lucky to experience the change of the seasons and fall being probably the prettiest. We seen some lovely colours and absolutely breathtaking views of our trees.

There were several roadside market gardens selling apples, pumpkins, goards and squash.

We were only gone about 24 hrs. Just enough to take a breather before we have to go again. We stopped in at the Gananoque Casino. My very first time being in a casino. It was a bustling place! We each took $20 to spend and came out with a combined $160!!! Not bad for our first try at slots! It was nice to relax and spend some timing enjoying the beauty around us..even if only for a day! Unfortunately we "missed the boat" I had wanted to take a cruise of the 1000 islands but we arrived only minutes too late. This is a beautiful little town with much more to experience so perhaps next year we can go and take the cruise and peek around Gananoque some more!

The Chai Story

I just received an email with this link. It is about a beautiful lab mix named Chai who was playing with a ball and the ball sucked his tongue inside the ball. This poor dog had to have the ball removed which in turn the blood flow was cut off to his tongue, first causing it to swell and then the tissue (his tongue) had to be removed....
It absolutely broke my heart to watch this beautiful animal suffer and whine in pain. I know not all of you have dogs but I would assume that all are dog or animal lovers. Please read the blog but I warn you some of the pictures are not pretty. At the bottom there is a letter that we can all send to the CEO of FOUR PAWS boycotting the purchase of any of their products until this ball, known as the pimple ball has been banned or remodeled.

Puppy Randoms..

Like I said, I have taken ALOT of pictures of the puppies..thought I would post some of them! They are out of their pen about 4-5 times a day now and reign terror on my kitchen. They run, chase, chew, bark, fight and have a blast! They spread the toys around and just make a complete mess...but they have a great time doing it! Once they fall asleep then its clean up time and off to do my work!
They consider themselves very brave and bark at the shepherds when they are in their pen. Kind of a David and Goliath thing.... its really funny to watch!
Cruiser looking very proud...
Bailey and Maya sharing the pet bed...
This is the yorkie pile...after they have crashed, back into their pen they go! Hard to believe there are 6 puppies in there!
They have graduated to an xpen and I put both litters together. They are learning potty training on the paper as well as outside.

Family Shots

I thought it was time to do another group shot of the puppies!!! The last one I did was at 3 and 4 weeks old. Now the puppies are 8 and 7 weeks old! The time really has flown by! We are enjoying the litters immensly, I literally could spend all day playing and taking pictures of them but then I guess I wouldn't get anything else done!
Thus far in this litter Dexter and Miller (aka Sophie) are reserved. I would dearly love to keep Ava for myself but am waiting (not so patiently) to see what she matures to be. She has the head and face that I love, just not so sure on her leg length and size???

Their weights at 8 weeks are::
::Dexter 2 lbs 7 oz::
::Ava 1 lb 15.5oz::
::Miller 2 lbs 5.5oz::
::from l to r- Ava, Dexter and Miller::

In this litter I am keeping my eye on Cruiser for my future male. Both Maya and Lainey are looking really nice for show too, decisions, decisions!!! I want to make the best choice for my breeding program. I also have another female reserved, just not sure which one until I make my decision! Both Maya and Lainey have a tonne of leg and are nice movers, they just don't have the firecracker personality and I like to see...if we as breeders could play Mr. Potato Head with our puppies it would be soooo much easier!!!

Their weights at 7 weeks are::
::Maya 2 lbs 1.5 oz::
::Lainey 1 lb 13.5 oz::
::Cruiser 1 lb 9.5oz::
::from l to r- Cruiser, Lainey and Maya::

As always from week to week I have posted individual shots of the puppies on my website www.geocities.com/bluangelyorkies

My new cleaning aid...

I have never been one to go for gimmiky stuff or really cleaning with a pad? That has never been my style either. However I am finding it increasingly difficult to clean my floor during the day with Dave sleeping so close by. When I was in Walmart the other day I walked beside this display of Swiffer Sweep N Vac's. I looked at them and debated whether or not I should spend the $25 dollars to buy one. In the end I went for it and I have been pleasantly surprised!
I find this little vacuum easy to use, lightweight and quite effective to get all the nasties that are on my floor that I'm sure my broom is missing. With an increased amount of dogs in my house, plus have 3 human females ( ya we shed too) hair is definitely an issue.
I found that the vacuum did a good job at pick up the dirt and the pad finished the job up and caught the finer stuff. This is a great little vacuum for daily touch ups however I don't think I will get getting rid of my canister vacuum just yet as my floor does need a good going over every few days.
